Diva

Adrian co-writes and arranges new songs for a solo musical at the United Solo Festival: DIVA.

Glee meets Dexter. La Cage Aux Folles meets Richard III. All About Eve meets The Silence of the Lambs. Desmond Channing, a dethroned high school drama queen, tries to make sense of his impending execution by reenacting the events leading up to his murder of archenemy Evan Harris in an impromptu prison cabaret performance.

Glow

  • First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Adrian creates original music and sound for Kaleid Theatre's newest production, Glow, at the Philly Fringe Festival.

We desperately check for text messages, emails, and Facebook updates, but what are we longing for? When we reach for our devices, we hope to find something beyond ourselves. How do we write ourselves onto the world? How does the world write itself back onto us?

Glow explores the deep human need for validation that is exposed by our compulsion to use, check, and constantly monitor the media in our lives. On our screens, validation becomes the foundation of identity, one we try to solidify in a fury of words. But in this world of gadgets and social media sites, the words are fragile and easy to undermine, manipulate, and efface. When do we successfully write our identities? What happens when we fail and the words fly back at us?

Glow is about all of us. We live in a time of constant flux, with new media outlets appearing every day. We find new ways to make our increasingly complicated phones beep at us, and then wonder if we control the phones or if they control us. We hear stories about people being fired over social networking posts or about information abuses. Every day, we struggle to establish our own identities in relation to the devices, only to find that innovation has changed the world again.

Glow is our chance to explore this changing world together. The devices lie outside of us, but our compulsions to respond to them, and our ambivalence about those responses, come from within. What are we afraid of and what are we longing for when we turn to our devices? In the face of constantly changing technologies, Glow explores the humanity underlying the technologies, and the empowerment of recognizing it.

Amy runs Emoh Ruo, the family sheep station in outback Australia. She's held onto the property through drought, bushfire, and falling wool prices, determined not to let it slip out of the family grasp. But when the family gathers over a scorching long weekend, Amy has to face up to the myths and lies the place has been built upon. Is she really holding on or is she just stuck?

After a successful first season featuring Cosi and Speaking In Tongues, Australian Made Entertainment is proud to kick off their second season with the U.S. premiere of Once We Lived Here, written by the critically acclaimed musical team of Dean Bryant & Mathew Frank. Winner of the 2009 Green Room Award for Best New Musical, this authentically Australian musical was described by Geoffrey Rush as "a beautiful, poignant piece of home-grown music theatre. It may echo Chekhov and Sondheim but it's thrillingly pure Oz."

The 2013 KaleidoCabaret brings together an amazing group of performers from Philadelphia and NYC.

Please join us as we bring together some of Philadelphia's talented dancers, musicians, aerialists, and theatre artists for a night of daring performances. Whether on the ground, in the air, or through music, these artists will spend the evening exploring the theme of "colliding." In addition, Kaleid Theatre will debut their new work, Bounce.

Throughout the evening, there will be opportunities to participate in Kaleid's raffle, as well as ongoing drawings to win door prizes. After the show, we will turn the night into a party with desserts, drinks, and dancing. Bring a friend and make this a party to remember!

The KaleidoCabaret will be held at the Performance Garage on 1515 Brandywine St, Philadelphia, PA 19130.

Doors open at 8:00 pm. Show starts at 8:30 pm. Then we party till we drop (which will be 11pm).
